Description

The purpose of this position is to provide technical support in the maintenance and troubleshooting of machinery throughout the facility. The individual will design, modify and upgrade electrical control systems and advance our use of automation. Additionally, assist in the development of electrical skills in our maintenance department and advance our focus on reliability centered maintenance. Perform other tasks as directed. 

Responsibilities:

  • Support all maintenance and capital electrical projects as directed including supervision of electrical specialty mechanics.
  • Work in conjunction with maintenance and operations staff to maximize machine center performance and improvement.
  • Plan and coordinate day to day reliability tasks and improvement projects throughout the plant site.
  • Troubleshoot basic electrical problems throughout the plant, including taking voltage and amp readings, tracing wiring, evaluating relays, testing motors, evaluating health of wiring, checking breakers and fuses, evaluating sensors, and determining the health of valves.
  • Performs preventative maintenance activities and work orders in a timely manner to maximize performance of plant equipment.
  • Improves and modifies preventative maintenance activities as required.
  • Supports the effective use of our CMMS through disciplined documentation and use of FIIX.
  • Hands on involvement in machinery troubleshooting when required.
  • Coaches other team members on electrical, instrumentation, and controls skills.
  • Maintain electrical shop supplies and spare parts inventory.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required
  • Associate degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Control & Instrumentation, or trade school diploma in a related field preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience with electrical systems, PLC, motor and motion controls, SCADA systems, device and information networks, sensors, instrumentation equipment for manufacturing is required
  • Above average mechanical aptitude and use of common hand tools.
  • Able to read, understand, and follow documents such as safety policies, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and general instructions.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and piping & instrument diagrams (P&IDs).
  • Basic knowledge of computers and business software including, but not limited to: Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • PLC hardware and troubleshooting
  • Motor circuits and related troubleshooting.
  • Process instrumentation and troubleshooting.
  • Automated valve, analog and discrete, operation and troubleshooting.
  • Able to prioritize and manage workload in a changing environment
  • Able to work both independently and on a team
  • Basic mathematical, statistical, and analytical skills
  • Desire to work in a constantly changing, progressive environment
