Job Description

The Fabrication Supervisor works under the direction of the Fabrication & Production Manager, and plans, directs, and coordinates activities of workers engaged in the fabrication shop for construction and welding of blast-resistant modular buildings, offshore modules, and technical buildings. As the Fabrication Supervisor, you are integral in supporting goals of delivering customers a quality product on time. In this role, you will aid in the compliance of safety and quality standards. 

As Fabrication Supervisor your responsibilities are important in meeting the company's quality policy of providing quality products to our customers, delivered on time.

Responsibilities: 

  • Works with the Fabrication & Production Manager to coordinate worker activities, escalating any work or personnel problems as needed. 
  • Reviews fabrication schedules and estimations of worker hour requirements for completion of job assignments with the Fabrication & Production Manager and delegates work assignments based on team members skills and experience. 
  • Ensures work is completed safely, effectively, and in a timely manner.
  • Assists with training and development of shop fitters and welders as well as performance appraisals.
  • Support workers in construction methods, operation of equipment and tools, safety procedures, and company policies.
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists workers in solving problems.
  • Corrects and reports unsafe working items or actions.
  • Ensures cleanliness of the fabrication work areas (indoors and outdoors)
  • Perform quality control checks and ensure welding and fabricating meets project requirements.
  • Participates in pre-construction meetings and reviews construction drawings with Fabrication & Production Manager and Project Manager's to assist with material takeoff and schedule planning.
  • Monitors actual man hours assigned per project to stay on schedule and within budget.
  • Attends weekly meetings and completes routine reports to keep the team updated.
  • Orders consumables for fabrication department.
  • Monitors employee time in Jo scan to ensure coding is correct.
  • Fabrication Supervisor will be the backup for the Production Supervisor in his/her absence.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of construction related experience
  • Strong knowledge of welding and steel fabrication or construction
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Valid driver's license and ability to operate forklift
  • Basic computer skills

Maintained 5+ years of supervisory positions 


Supervisor Responsibilities: 

  • The job does have supervisory responsibilities including the oversight of work of up to 20 team members. As a people manager, you will coach and develop employees in alignment with company policies and values, referring more serious concerns to Fabrication and Production Manager. You will be the direct contact for team questions and concerns and will support your team to maximize operational success.

    • Medium work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. 
    • Prolonged periods sitting or standing.
    • Must be able to traverse work site in different types of weather and bend, climb, stretch, and reach and lean to make inspections. 
    • Must be able to work overtime at short notice and work weekends on as needed basis.
