Job Description

The Project Engineer is an integral member of the Engineering team. The position is responsible for planning and coordinating technical engineering initiatives to make sure they can complete a project within their budget and according to schedule. Their duties include upholding project standards by researching compliance regulations, developing project implementation plans, and adjusting specifications for elements of a project. The project Engineer provides technical support to construction staff under the supervision of the project manager or engineering manager. The role works collaboratively with project management, engineering, workshop team as well as supporting services including Supply Chain, HSE & Quality, suppliers and contractors.

Summary of Essential Job Functions/Job Duties:

  • This role consists of both on site (out of office/offshore) and office-based duties, generally speaking the applicant interested in this role should assume 50% offshore time for this position. 
  • Carries out tasks as assigned by Manager. Tasks would generally be focused on technical issues but will sometimes require administrative and project management functions.
  • Work closely with Project Manager and Operations department to ensure all project objectives, schedule, deliverables, and milestones are met. 
  • Responsible for the installation engineering of subsea hardware, including development, evaluation, engineering, design, controls, procurement and construction phases of project implementation in order to ensure project completion are efficiently and effectively as possible.
  • Responsible for creating and reviewing procedures and specifications for compliance with design principles, applicable standards, and customer requirements.
  • Prepares design changes, specifications, schematics, and test plans for installation equipment and subsea hardware. This may include locating equipment and assisting with vendor selection.
  • Review and/or conduct engineering calculations and analysis. 
  • Prepare installation and maintenance procedures. 
  • Review product designs, conducts and attends Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and System Integration Tests (SIT)
  • Determines project deliverable schedule by studying project plan and specifications, calculating time requirements, and sequencing project deliverables.
  • Prepare presentations, articles, and technical papers.
  • Interface with Document Control. Design Analyst and Design/Drafters during the course of project work
  • Perform non-engineering activities such as oversight of offshore operations and on-site oversight of projects and subcontractors
  • The position may have supervisory responsibilities in projects and may include project management 
  • Author field status reports with the ability to accurately convey problems with recommended solutions/ways forward

 

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (or other relevant degree) 
  • Minimum 3 years of project support and planning. Scheduling experience
  • Experience with 2-D Autocad and basic engineering drawings
  • Proficient in Microsoft Software-Word, Excel, Access, and Project
  • Evidence of strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of document control systems and project design. 
  • Experience raising requirements as well as working ERP and CRM systems. 
  • Experience in project bid preparation.
  • Ability to oversee projects and independently.
  • Ability to read and understand design drawings and schematics.
  • Previous experience within the marine and/or oil and gas industry
  • Ability to work independently with minimal managerial supervision.
  • Demonstrated understanding of project management concepts.
  • Previous subsea experience (desirable)
  • Understanding of Engineering Process.
  • Identify and drive appropriate application of new technologies to provide greater effectiveness in project delivery.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of experience preferred in a project support and/or planning/scheduling role 
  • Maritime Experience preferred
